A fun and spooky Halloween snack board made with string cheese, pretzel sticks, and almonds shaped like witch fingers. Ready in 15 minutes, it’s perfect for parties, movie nights, or any Halloween gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 string cheese sticks, cut in half
  • 2432 pretzel sticks
  • 2432 whole almonds
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup hummus
  • 1/4 cup yellow mustard
  • Fresh parsley or dill (optional)
  • 1/4 cup black olives, sliced
  • 1/2 cup grape tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup cucumber slices

Instructions

  1. Prep the cheese sticks (5 minutes). Unwrap 6-8 string cheese sticks. Cut each one in half crosswise so you have 12-16 pieces. Each piece should be about 2 inches long. Using your fingers, gently pull apart one end of each cheese piece to create a jagged, knobby look—like a witch’s knuckle. Don’t overdo it; just a few pulls will do. Set aside on a plate.
  2. Create the finger bones (3 minutes). Take one pretzel stick and gently push it into the cut end of a cheese piece. Push until about halfway in—you want the pretzel to act as the ‘bone’ sticking out of the finger. Repeat with all cheese pieces. If the pretzel breaks, just use a new one.
  3. Attach the witch nails (5 minutes). Take a small amount of softened cream cheese (about 1/4 teaspoon) and spread it on the flat end of one whole almond. Press the almond onto the opposite end of the cheese piece (the end without the pretzel). The cream cheese acts as glue. Hold for 5 seconds to secure. Repeat with all fingers.
  4. Arrange the fingers on the board (3 minutes). Place the witch fingers on your serving board in a scattered, creepy pattern. Point them in different directions for that ‘crawling out of the ground’ look. Leave space between them for dips and garnishes. I like to group them in clusters of 3-4.
  5. Add the dips (2 minutes). Pour ranch dressing, marinara sauce, hummus, and mustard into small bowls. Place the bowls around the board, spacing them evenly.
  6. Garnish and fill gaps (2 minutes). Scatter black olives, grape tomatoes, and cucumber slices around the board. Tuck fresh parsley or dill sprigs between the fingers for that overgrown, witchy garden look. Fill any empty spaces so the board looks full and abundant.
  7. Final touches (1 minute). Step back and look at your board. Adjust any fingers that look too uniform—spooky is better when it’s messy. Add a few extra almonds scattered around for texture. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Keep the cheese cold for easier handling. Don’t oversoften the cream cheese—leave it out for 15-20 minutes. Break pretzels strategically for varied bone lengths. Assemble fingers up to 4 hours ahead and store in the fridge. Double the batch for larger parties. Use a damp paper towel to clean fingers if cream cheese sticks.
