A smooth, fruity, and boozy sweet tea perfect for summer sipping, combining fresh peach puree, bourbon, and classic southern sweet tea flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups water (1.4 liters)
  • 45 black tea bags (Lipton or Twinings recommended)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (100g), adjust to taste
  • 23 sprigs fresh mint (optional)
  • 2 cups fresh peaches, peeled and chopped (about 2 medium peaches) or frozen peaches, thawed
  • ½ cup bourbon (120ml)
  • Juice of 1 lemon (about 2 tablespoons / 30ml)
  • Ice cubes
  • Peach slices and mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring 6 cups (1.4 liters) of water to a boil in a large pot.
  2. Remove from heat, add the tea bags and fresh mint sprigs if using. Let steep for 5-7 minutes depending on desired strength.
  3. Remove tea bags and mint sprigs. While tea is still warm, stir in ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar until fully dissolved.
  4. Allow tea to cool to room temperature (about 30 minutes) or chill in the fridge to speed up cooling.
  5. While tea cools, blend 2 cups peeled, chopped peaches until smooth. For pulp-free tea, strain puree through a fine mesh sieve.
  6. Stir peach puree or juice into cooled sweet tea. Add ½ cup (120ml) bourbon and juice of 1 lemon. Mix gently but thoroughly.
  7. Transfer peach bourbon sweet tea to a pitcher and refrigerate for another 30 minutes to let flavors marry.
  8. Serve chilled over ice cubes, garnished with fresh peach slices and mint leaves.

Notes

If kitchen is warm, chill tea quickly in an ice bath before adding bourbon to keep flavors crisp. Taste sweetness carefully as ripe peaches add natural sugar. Use quality bourbon for best flavor. Can substitute sugar with honey or stevia for lower sugar version. Non-alcoholic version possible by omitting bourbon and adding extra peach puree or syrup.
