This Cozy Witches’ Brew Green Punch with Dry Ice is a sweet, tart, and magical Halloween drink that creates a smoky, misty effect. It’s ridiculously simple to throw together and is the perfect showstopper for any spooky gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups pineapple juice, chilled
  • 2 cups limeade, chilled
  • 2 cups lemon-lime soda, chilled (like Sprite or 7-Up)
  • 1 cup water, chilled
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 4–5 limes)
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup, optional (if you like it sweeter)
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, plus extra for garnish
  • 1–2 drops green food coloring, or more for a deeper color (gel food coloring works best)
  • 1 block of dry ice (about 1–2 pounds, handle with care!)
  • Plastic spiders or gummy worms for a creepy touch (optional)
  • Thinly sliced lime wheels (optional)
  • Fresh mint sprigs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Chill Everything (10 minutes before serving): Make sure your pineapple juice, limeade, and lemon-lime soda are all very cold. You can even pop them in the freezer for 15 minutes before you start.
  2. Prepare the Mint (5 minutes): Gently wash the fresh mint leaves and pat them dry. Place them in the bottom of your punch bowl. Use the back of a spoon to gently bruise the leaves—this releases their oils and makes the punch smell incredible.
  3. Mix the Juices (2 minutes): In a large pitcher, combine the chilled pineapple juice, limeade, water, and fresh lime juice. Stir gently to combine. If you’re using simple syrup, add it now.
  4. Add the Color (1 minute): Add 1-2 drops of green food coloring to the juice mixture. Stir well. You want a deep, swampy green, not a neon glow. Add more drops one at a time until you’re happy with the color.
  5. Combine in the Bowl (1 minute): Pour the juice mixture over the mint leaves in the punch bowl. Then, slowly pour in the chilled lemon-lime soda. Stir gently to combine.
  6. Add the Dry Ice (Right before serving): Using tongs, carefully add a small piece of dry ice (about the size of a golf ball) to the punch bowl. Do not touch the dry ice with your hands. It will start to bubble and create a thick, low-lying fog that spills over the edges of the bowl. Add more small pieces as needed to keep the mist effect going throughout the party.
  7. Garnish and Serve (Immediately): Float lime wheels and a few plastic spiders on top for a creepy effect. Ladle the punch into cups, making sure to avoid scooping up the dry ice. The dry ice will sink to the bottom, so it’s easy to avoid.

Notes

Do not let anyone eat or drink the dry ice. It can cause serious injury. The punch itself is safe to drink once the dry ice has fully sublimated (turned to gas), which takes about 10-15 minutes after you add it. Always give guests a heads-up, especially kids. For a darker green color, add more green food coloring one drop at a time. You can also add a drop of blue food coloring to create a deeper, more swampy green.
