These easy pepperoni pizza pinwheels are a quick, satisfying snack or appetizer that can be made ahead and frozen for convenience. They combine melted mozzarella, zesty pepperoni, and tangy pizza sauce wrapped in soft dough for a crowd-pleasing treat.

  • ½ cup (120 ml) pizza or marinara sauce
  • 1 ½ cups (150 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • About 40 slices (100 g) thinly sliced pepperoni
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons (15 g) grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a 12×10 inch (30×25 cm) rectangle.
  3. Spread ½ cup (120 ml) of pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Sprinkle Italian seasoning and garlic powder over the sauce.
  5. Scatter 1 ½ cups (150 g) shredded mozzarella evenly over the sauce.
  6. Layer about 40 thin pepperoni slices over the cheese.
  7. Lightly brush the dough edges with 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil.
  8. Starting at one long edge, roll the dough into a tight log.
  9. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the log into 1-inch (2.5 cm) thick rounds to make 12-15 pinwheels.
  10. Place the pinwheels cut-side up on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spaced about 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart.
  11. Optionally, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the pinwheels.
  12. Bake for 18-22 minutes until the dough is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
  13. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Do not overfill with sauce or cheese to avoid leaking. Roll tightly but gently. Use a sharp knife for clean slices. Chill the rolled dough for 15 minutes if too soft before slicing.
