A quick and flexible charcuterie board for two, perfect for weeknight date nights or lazy evenings. Made with simple ingredients like cheese, salami, nuts, and honey, it’s ready in 10 minutes and requires no special equipment.

Ingredients

  • Sharp cheddar, 4 ounces (115g)
  • Soft cheese (brie or camembert), 4 ounces (115g)
  • Blue cheese (optional), 2 ounces (55g)
  • Salami, 4 ounces (115g)
  • Prosciutto, 3 ounces (85g)
  • Soppressata (optional), 2 ounces (55g)
  • Crackers or crostini, 15-20 pieces
  • Nuts (Marcona almonds or roasted almonds), 1/2 cup (60g)
  • Honey, 2 tablespoons (30ml)
  • Fruit (grapes, dried figs, apple or pear slices), 1 cup (150g)
  • Olives (Castelvetrano or Kalamata), 1/2 cup (70g)
  • Cornichons or pickles (optional), 1/4 cup (40g)
  • Jam or chutney (optional), 2 tablespoons (30ml)
  • Fresh herbs (optional), for garnish

Instructions

  1. Take the cheese out of the fridge 5 minutes before starting to let it come to room temperature.
  2. Choose your board or plate, ensuring it fits everything without being too crowded.
  3. Place small bowls for olives, honey, and jam on the board to anchor the layout.
  4. Slice the hard cheese (cheddar) into thin slices or small cubes. Leave the brie in a wedge or cut into smaller wedges.
  5. Arrange the cheese in different spots around the board, spreading them out for variety.
  6. Fold the salami slices into quarters or roll into cylinders. Tear the prosciutto into ribbons or leave in ruffled piles.
  7. Place the meat near the cheese, grouping similar meats together.
  8. Scatter crackers around the board, filling empty spaces. Add nuts in small piles.
  9. Tuck clusters of fruit and pickles into the gaps for pops of color.
  10. Drizzle honey over the brie or a pile of nuts. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

This board is highly adaptable. Swap ingredients based on what you have. For a dairy-free version, use vegan cheese. For gluten-free, use rice crackers or cucumber rounds. The cheese tastes best at room temperature. Don’t stress about perfect presentation—rustic and casual is more inviting.
