This creamy whipped feta dip is a quick and easy appetizer that comes together in under 10 minutes. Perfect for charcuterie boards, it’s a crowd-pleaser with a light, airy texture and tangy, salty flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces feta cheese (block form, packed in brine)
  • 1/4 cup plain full-fat Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (from about half a lemon)
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional but recommended)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or oregano, chopped (for garnish, optional)
  • For serving: warm pita bread, pita chips, crostini, cucumber slices, cherry tomatoes, olives, roasted red peppers

Instructions

  1. Remove the feta from its brine and pat it dry with paper towels. Break the block into rough 1-inch pieces.
  2. Place the feta pieces in a food processor fitted with the metal blade. Process for 2-3 minutes, stopping to scrape down the sides every minute, until the feta looks like wet sand.
  3. Add the Greek yogurt and fresh lemon juice. Process for another 2 minutes, scraping down the sides once or twice, until smooth and creamy.
  4. With the food processor running, drizzle in the olive oil and honey (if using). Process for about 30 seconds until fully incorporated. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  5. Sprinkle in the red pepper flakes and pulse a few times to distribute evenly.
  6. Transfer the whipped feta to a bowl, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (optional but recommended) to allow flavors to meld.
  7. When ready to serve, spread the whipped feta on a serving board or shallow bowl. Drizzle with extra olive oil and sprinkle with fresh herbs. Arrange accompaniments around the dip and serve immediately.

Notes

For best texture, use block feta packed in brine, not pre-crumbled. Let feta and yogurt come to room temperature before whipping. Do not over-process or the dip may become grainy. The dip can be made up to 2 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator. Bring to room temperature before serving.
