This easy, 5-minute Halloween treat combines crunchy popcorn, creamy white chocolate, chewy candy corn, and salty pretzels for a perfectly balanced sweet-and-salty bark. It’s a crowd-pleasing, no-fuss recipe that turns a kitchen disaster into a beloved fall tradition.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups popped popcorn (plain or lightly salted)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate melting wafers (e.g., Ghirardelli)
  • 1 cup candy corn (e.g., Brach’s)
  • 1/2 cup pretzel sticks, broken into small pieces
  • 1 pinch flaky sea salt (e.g., Maldon)
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries (optional)
  • 1/4 cup toasted pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pop the popcorn and let it cool for a minute or two. Remove any unpopped kernels. Measure out 6 cups and spread evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Place white chocolate melting wafers in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until smooth and glossy (about 90 seconds total). Do not overheat.
  4. Pour melted white chocolate over the popcorn. Gently fold and spread with a spatula to coat evenly. Sprinkle candy corn and broken pretzel pieces over the top, pressing them in gently.
  5. While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt over the entire bark.
  6. Let the bark set at room temperature for 30-45 minutes, or refrigerate for 15-20 minutes until firm.
  7. Once set, break the bark into irregular 2-3 inch pieces with your hands.

Notes

Use day-old popcorn for best texture—it’s sturdier and won’t get soggy. Work quickly once chocolate is melted; have all mix-ins ready. For dairy-free, use dairy-free white chocolate. For gluten-free, use gluten-free pretzels. Bark tastes even better on day two. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
