These cute and easy mummy jalapeño popper bites are perfect for Halloween parties. Cream cheese filling, crescent dough wrappers, and mustard or ketchup eyes make them a kid-friendly appetizer that’s budget-friendly and quick to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6–8 fresh jalapeños
  • 8 ounces block cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 can (8 count) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • Mustard or ketchup (for eyes)
  • Cooking spray or butter for greasing (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Wash and dry jalapeños. Cut each in half lengthwise. Use a small spoon to remove seeds and membranes. Rinse under cold water if desired and pat dry.
  3. In a small bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Stir until smooth.
  4. Fill each jalapeño half with the cream cheese mixture, level with the cut edge.
  5. Open the crescent roll dough and separate into 8 triangles. Cut each triangle lengthwise into 3-4 thin strips (about ¼ inch wide).
  6. Wrap a dough strip around each filled jalapeño half, starting at one end and leaving a small gap near the top for the face. Place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
  7. Use a toothpick or knife tip to make two small indentations in the cream cheese filling for eyes.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until dough is golden brown and filling is bubbly.
  9. Cool on the pan for 5 minutes. Transfer to a serving platter. Place a tiny dot of mustard or ketchup in each eye indentation.
  10. Serve warm.

Notes

Handle jalapeños with care; wear gloves or coat hands in oil. Soften cream cheese for at least 30 minutes. Cut dough strips thin (¼ inch) and wrap loosely. Bake on middle rack. Let rest 5 minutes before serving. For extra crispiness, use an air fryer at 350°F for 8-10 minutes.
