This caramel apple sangria is the perfect fall cocktail—a balanced blend of tart apples, warm caramel, and crisp white wine that tastes like autumn in a glass. Easy to make ahead and always a crowd-pleaser at parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (good quality, like Stonewall Kitchen or Trader Joe’s)
  • 1/4 cup apple brandy or Calvados
  • 1/4 cup vodka (optional)
  • 2 cups apple cider (unfiltered preferred)
  • 1 cup sparkling water or ginger ale
  • 2 medium Honeycrisp apples (or Fuji or Granny Smith)
  • 1 large Bosc pear
  • 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1 lemon (for juicing)
  • Cinnamon sticks (2-3, for garnish)
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs (for garnish)
  • Extra caramel sauce (for garnish)
  • Coarse sea salt (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prep the fruit: Wash apples and pear, core them, and slice into thin wedges or bite-sized cubes. Toss with juice of half a lemon to prevent browning. Set aside.
  2. Make the caramel base: In a small bowl, whisk together caramel sauce and about 1/2 cup of the white wine until smooth. If needed, warm caramel slightly in microwave for 10 seconds.
  3. Combine the liquids: In a large pitcher, pour remaining white wine, apple brandy, vodka (if using), and apple cider. Add caramel-wine mixture and stir gently until well combined.
  4. Add the fruit: Drop in apple and pear slices along with fresh cranberries. Stir gently.
  5. Chill: Cover pitcher and refrigerate for minimum 2 hours, ideally 4-6 hours or overnight.
  6. Add fizz and serve: Just before serving, stir in sparkling water or ginger ale. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  7. Garnish and pour: Fill glasses with ice, ladle sangria over ice, and garnish with cinnamon stick, rosemary sprig, and a pinch of sea salt. Drizzle extra caramel around rim if desired.

Notes

Don’t skip the lemon juice—it prevents apples from browning. Make the night before for best flavor. For a non-alcoholic version, replace wine with more apple cider and spirits with vanilla extract and ginger ale. Use good quality caramel sauce for best results.
