Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) lulo juice (naranjilla), fresh or bottled
  • 10 to 12 fresh mint leaves, plus extra for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) fresh lime juice
  • Zest of 1 lime
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons (1530 ml) simple syrup or honey, adjust to taste
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold sparkling water or club soda
  • Ice cubes as needed
  • Optional: pinch of sea salt
  • Optional: splash of fresh orange juice

Instructions

  1. Place 10 to 12 fresh mint leaves at the bottom of your mixing glass. Gently muddle them with a muddler or wooden spoon for about 30 seconds to release oils without pulverizing.
  2. Zest one lime carefully over the glass, then squeeze 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of fresh lime juice into the glass.
  3. Pour in 1 to 2 tablespoons (15-30 ml) of simple syrup or honey, adjusting sweetness to taste. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Add 1 cup (240 ml) of fresh or bottled lulo juice and stir well until the mixture is bright green and fragrant.
  5. Fill the glass with ice cubes, then top off with 1 cup (240 ml) of cold sparkling water or club soda. Stir gently to mix without losing bubbles.
  6. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a thin slice or wedge of lime on the rim. Serve immediately for maximum fizz and freshness.

Notes

Do not over-muddle the mint to avoid bitterness. Use fresh lime juice and zest for best flavor. Adjust sweetness after mixing to balance the tartness of lulo. Keep all ingredients chilled to maintain freshness and reduce dilution from ice. Optional additions include a pinch of sea salt or a splash of fresh orange juice for extra flavor.
